What types of varicose vein can be treated using Laser Treatment?
- Endovenous Laser Treatment is ideally suited to saphenous veins. These are the largest draining veins of the superficial venous system. There are two types of saphenous vein:
- The greater saphenous veins lead up the length of the inner side of the lower limb
- The small saphenous veins are situated on the back of the leg only.
- There is no size limit for treating saphenous veins
- It is possible to treat two saphenous veins in the same session
- Other types of varicose vein can be treated by Endovenous Laser Treatment
- However, the varicose veins treated must not be too tortuous and must have a calibre of at least 3-4 mm.
- A Duplex scan examination must be performed before the decision is made regarding any type of treatment.
